Butterbell

A handmade butter bell designed to keep butter soft, fresh, and spreadable at room temperature. No counter gymnastics, no fridge-hard corners. Just butter that behaves.

Made from high-fired ceramic, it’s sturdy enough for daily use and understated enough to live happily on the table or countertop. The classic water-seal design creates a simple barrier against air, helping preserve freshness without refrigeration. The inner cup holds the butter, the base holds a small amount of water — a system that’s been around for generations and still works remarkably well.

Each butter bell is made by hand, which means slight variations in form, weight, and glaze. These differences don’t affect performance. They just mean yours won’t be exactly like anyone else’s.

Sizes of the butter parts are apprx:

Soft blue: 150ml

Pink: 100ml

Creme: 115ml

Blossom: 100ml

Before first use, rinse with warm water. Pack softened butter into the inner cup and add a small amount of water to the base (just enough to create a seal). Change the water every few days.
Dishwasher safe on a gentle cycle. Hand washing is kinder, but not required. Avoid sudden temperature changes. Durable, yes — indestructible, no.
